While the aging population has distinctive brain health concerns, every child and adult can benefit from brain training exercises. Many research studies support the brain’s ability to regenerate brain cells as a result of brain exercises. These brain cells will generate new neurons and strengthen the brain’s neural pathways. This month, we are discussing the many different ways to improve your brain health.
Stimulating Your Brain with Brain Gym
Brain Gym is a program designed to stimulate the brain and encourage optimal brain health. Users who spent time completing Brain Gym exercises experienced improvements in the exercises themselves and in their personal lives. Brain Gym exercises can be used with babies or with aging seniors and facilitate reflex integration to support motor, cognitive, sensory and emotional balance.
Setting Goals to Improve Your Brain Health
In order to properly boost your brain health, you should set exciting goals that will motivate you. To set great goals:
- Ensure that the goal is something you want to do differently, something that you haven’t done before or something you have tried but not succeeded at.
- State your goal in the present tense and use positive terms to speak about it.
- Choose goals that are positive, active, clearly and simply stated and energizing. This is the PACE method.
- Write down three steps that will pave the path to achieving your goal. For example, if you are a writer one of your goals could be to write 500 words a day 5 days a week.
- Practice positive visualization and picture yourself achieving your goal every day.
